How A 36" Cord Can Strangle Your Success -- IF You Let It...

Click If You Need Help Logging In to Professional?

Our retention rate at Renegade Professional is exceptionally high (meaning, a high number of our students stay long-term), and the Success They See is inspiring.

So why would anyone quit?

I wanted to find out so I started asking.

Here's what I learned

Beware of the 36" Cord...

Some people who left before they started said that the training videos didn't play smoothly enough.

OK.

So I asked them, "Did you contact the support desk and seek some help with that?"

Some did but most didn't even bother.  If it required any level of problem solving most ran for the hills.

Come to find out, most of these people had a bad wireless Internet connection and just didn't know it.

(While you might be able to watch a 10 Minute video on YouTube or use the net without noticing a problem ordinarily, you'll need a solid connection if you're going to be learning in a class-like setting like  at Renegade Professional).

If you watch long educational style videos like we have (1 hour or longer) you need a good connection.

The Simple Solution:

Get a 36" USB cord and plug it directly into your modem/router and computer (any length of USB cord will do the trick).  This will give you a far better Internet connection.  You'll notice everything on the net will go faster and work better.

Call your Internet Service Provider for any needed help.  Ask others for help.

Problem solved.

Now you can watch the educational videos with no interruption and start attracting prospects, build your business and live your dreams in THIS century!

What Might Be "YOUR" 36-Inch Cord?

What might stop YOU?

Is it your work schedule?

Is it that you feel overwhelmed?

Is it that you aren't comfortable learning how to write or be in a video?

Is it that your computer keeps crashing?

Is it that life is just not fair?

Maybe it's that you did a little spurt of hard work and didn't hit the jackpot yet--you feel burned out?

I assure you, EVERYONE who built a successful business has a bundle of 36" cords they had to find and plug in.

One problem after another will need to be solved.

Sometimes its technical. Other times its emotional.

That's just the way it is.

Here's another one I heard that was interesting:

They couldn't log in.

In fact, this is the #1 reason I heard people quit!

But check out the #1 reason WHY...

In most cases this was because they were copying and pasting their username or password with an extra space in it. That extra space prevented them from logging in!

But instead of contacting the support desk at support@marketingmerge.com or contacting their guide (the person who referred them)... or just going to Google to search for help from other Renegade Professionals, they quit instead.

Before they had even gotten started.

Achieving success is nothing more than heading in the right direction and then solving one problem after another.

That's literally IT.

The more willing you are to solve problems the faster success will arrive for you (whether that's dealing with your computer crashing or your spouse yelling at you for working too much behind the keyboard).

It really is that simple.

And since we already know Renegade Professional has you going in the right direction as we look at other Successful Students who followed through on their commitment, the LAST thing you want to do is avoid solving problems.  Because that's all that is left to be done.

Your success won't come easier through some 'magical system' -- you are staring reality dead in the face right now.  Learn how to attract prospects and develop your business.  Overcome any challenges that get in the way.  Everyone will have their own challenges to overcome.  That's what you'll end up calling YOUR STORY when we interview you and share your success with others.

Have you taken the first step yet, that you were instructed to do?

In the Start Here Checklist in your Renegade Professional Backoffice you were asked to take some time to just poke around the back office.  Did you do that?

Next, you were asked to simply follow one video tutorial after another, until you hit your Magical Moment... where it all starts to unfold.

Follow through.

Log into your back office.  Get through the 90 day checklist, one step at a time, one video at a time, solving one problem after another.

Once you're moving in the right direction, which you now are, problem solving and learning new things is all that's left.

You can make this happen.  It's not a complicated process anymore.

Partners in success,

Mike Klingler

Thanks Mike! I have been dealing with a bunch of tangled cords lately. Started untangling them yesterday by getting a blog domain name. Now I am going throught the Blog tutorials to get it up and running.

Your post is the nudge I needed today!!!

Mike, you wrote,

Achieving success is nothing more than heading in the right direction and then solving one problem after another.

That's worth 10K per month!

Anyone just starting out on the internet attraction marketing business venture, or trying to determine if the struggle is worth the effort...

It is...it SO is...

Just remember this simple statement (hang it above your computer or write on a sticky note) because it's worth repeating:

Achieving success is nothing more than heading in the right direction and then solving one problem after another.

I have a truckload of 36" chords...And I'm ALWAYS plugged into the wall.

Play the game to WIN and win BIG!

Amen Mike!

I've seen literally hundreds of people quit in my downline(s) after the smallest little bumps in the road!

However, I will have to give you credit...the retention rate of Renegade Professional members is EXCEPTIONALLY high! Forget exeptionally...it is ridiculously high. (Nearly 90% of all people I've introduced, both downline and "strangers", are still active after 90 days!)

WOW!

I just want to say that this proves that providing massive value, the kind you provide in Renegade Professional, is the way to success.

"You can have everything you want in life...
If you can help enough others get what they want."
-- Zig Ziglar

You've provided this in Renegade Professional, and I truly appreciate you allowing us to plug our teams into it and in turn giving others what they want - the best step by step, click by click technical internet network marketing training anywhere on the planet!

Since I signed up for Renegade Pro I look at it this way The 36" cord is a challenge but that challenge is the front door of success so ring the door bell it is usually answered.

June 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterMorris Fisher

Hi Mike,

Great post! You hit the nail on the head ... those people who are willing to solve problems and work through the challenges that naturally come with learning something new, are the ones who succeed.

I'll just add one other point and that is, sometimes problem solving requires troubleshooting, and 'failing' a few times before things go right. Those of us who have learned from our (MANY!) failed attempts are... guess what?... positioned as EXPERTS now!

To all those who are struggling with their "36-inch cord"... Mike's right. Ask for help and don't give up. When you overcome your challenges and solve your problems, it creates a sense of achievement and confidence that will make you a better business owner, team member, marketer, and person!

@ Jason Cardamone,

Having had the opportunity to get to know you the way I have, and understanding FULLY the tremendous amount of value you bring to the table...and the awesome leader that you are...

It makes so much sense that your downline continues to grow and retain motivation and ambition. You - the unique and rare YOU that you are is an absolute "Dream Team" with Renegade Professional. Perfect match for you and your team (in my opinion)

Jason, I am so happy for you and excited. Keep empowering people and helping them grow their business. Glad to be in your same circle.

Sincerely,

Thanks Mike! I had this problem when I started using Renegade, but let me tell you, this training was too good to let go! While I was using the tutorials, I simply disconnected my home "network" modem and ran my USB direct from the cable modem to the computer...all the glitches were solved. Then if I needed to reconnect for the home network, I just plugged it back in!

I've gained so much in just a few months, I can't imagine not having this system at my disposal! Renegade Pro has changed everything!

Grasping success!

Mike,

I have to agree whole heartedly. The challenge is overcoming problems. The great thing about Renegade is that most of the solutions are in the tutorials. And above that, the entire group is willing to help. All it takes is a blog post or an email to get help. This is an extremely willing group to help on any point, from the top down. That makes all the difference and saves tons of time in spending hours figuring it out on your own. One thing I want to add, just a thought I had. Since there is so much help available, could it be that in some cases the person is looking for the first "excuse" to quit. So maybe asking at the start, "Am I committed to achieving this goal I have set", or do I lack so much confidence that the first barrier that comes along convinces me that "as I knew all along" I would fail. So just don't fall in that trap. Be like King Kong, just pound on your chest, be the King of the Mountain! Take the attitude when you run into a barrier, "it's not going to get me". Be tougher. Rise to the challenge. You will find just with that it is a lot easier. And with Renegade Pro and the incredible group you have a team with you. You can succeed for real!

Mike the training is great. Prior to using Renegade Pro I wouldn't have had a clue about building a blog. Since studying the tutorials I've gotten articles approved, built lenses, a working blog and I'm still unraveling that cord to keep it out of the way of progress. :-) Thanks

Mike, thanks for reminding me that I'm not the only one getting tangled/strangled with a 36" cord. It was comforting to hear you say, "The more willing you are to solve problems the faster success will arrive for you". It was a ray of sunshine to affirm that I'm not carzy to keep on going even when I feel overwhemed by all the new terminology and new things to do and learn with little or no visible results.

With Heartfelt Gratitude,

Hi Mike,

You are really right about learning to plug in your 36" cord!

Building a business is a series of figuring out "cord" situations. Over and over you have to have a problem and have solve it. Eventually it leads to success.

I used to think that it was only me that had these problems--that somehow everyone else just automatically succeeded. ...that my failures were about inadequacies in me.

Was I wrong! Now I know that failures are just my practice times. That every time I plug in a new cord, I get practiced at problem solving. More than that, I get over myself. I stop taking it so seriously.

I think ultimately success is simply overcoming one "cord" situation after another. Just keep plugging in and you get there.

Thanks Mike. I love the analogy!

I have now built 5 Squidoo Lens, the rankings are not as high I would like them to be. Because of this I have no visitors. I have no downline of any kind. Posted my Lens in forums, don't get any views, people seem to be more interested & concerned with their own work, seeking attention for themselves etc...they don't want to view my lens or comment on it, while I check theirs & give them my thoughts. Sorry to be negative, that is not my intention.

I have no upline, well he does not even know I exist, so I am left on my own to do what I can.

Quiting is not a option for me so I forge ahead.

June 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterJaswinder Singh

Mike,

You are absolutely right. I chuckled as I read your comments, because I have discovered it (on my own) to be the truth. To hear someone else say it is "great"! I got off to a slow start because of being a stay at home dad/homeschooler, but I learned how to adapt my schedule and "focus". I had to- I had no choice. When I look at my sign everyday "Failure is not an option", you have to become a problem solver. Successful people do not have less problems, they just have less unsolved problems.

To Jaswinder- You are part of our family here. Point me toward your best Squidoo lens and I will go to it a rate it. Promise. Send me an @kayhunter on Twitter and leave your Squidoo address. :-) Together we'll make it.

June 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAdrian Schleis

First I want to encourage Jaswinder to forge forward and be positive. It all takes time and the more content and links and connections that you make the better your results. In Renegade Professional Mike has you getting out there, getting used to the lay of the land; as you continue through the backoffice you will see how all the information gradually comes together and you can go back and update, and edit your originals. But I for one will tell you it takes time, energy and action and when you do get to go back to your first articles, it is just amazing how far you have come. Forge on Jaswinder and have fun at this. As Eric said " it is so worth it."

Hi Mike,

This is such a great post and you always put things so well. I have been talking with several people lately and it is amazing the "excuse" they come up with. We all have them but it is how we put them to work for ourselves and how we continue to teach and guide others through the information.

Business is business and it all takes time. In the brick and mortar world your business was not considered a real success until it survived 10 years. The beauty of this is that yes it takes time and it has all the bumps but it doesn't take 10 years to be successful.

Wanting everything now or to be done for you is not reality and you put it very well by saying "Your success won't come easier through some 'magical system' -- you are staring reality dead in the face right now."

"Put up the dream, Put in the knowledge, Put out the effort."
Denis Waitley.

June 26, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterAngela James

Well I am going to shake my head with the others that have posted - just problem solving is alot of what I have found people will not reach out and do - they do not want to bother their guide or make the effort.

For me - Quit is not a word I own. I may get frustrated and have to take a break. Then came back with full steam or fresh steam.

I have learned SO much since joining up with the renegades and I do not want to stop learning. There is power is learning.

I have some humps to crawl over still that I need that 36" cord to pull me over them. I will make it over - I just have to get new foot hold and pull. With the Renegades - I am not climbing alone and when I need a push - pull - or tug. They reach out willingly.

Everyone wants success NOW - but it doesn't come until we have done the work.

Thank team for being there -

Thanks Mike,

Maybe we all need a little tap once in awhile. Your email was timely.
I also found the Eric Walker's tutorial was very helpful. So if someone is stuck on the getting started 90 day checklist it is worth listening to.

Mike I've been an entrepreneur for a long time and it still absolutely amazes me the excuses that people have for quitting right before they see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We all have our 36" cords,I don't think there's a week that goes by that I don't have one. It's all in how you approach the problem that makes all the difference in the world. You can ether huff and puff complain jump up and down what ever suits your fancy or you can think it though and get the help if needed.

It's really not that hard,I might not be were I'd like to be with my business at this point but that's ok,because as long as I stay persistent, determined and above all "DON'T QUIT" I know I'll get there.

I’m a Help Desk Specialist and a Renegade Pro member. Because I work full-time, I’ve had to fit in my web-presence building where I can. Fortunately, I’ve been working with my Super-Guide, Kathy (she’s been graciously patient with my plodding pace). And we are making progress!

One of my goals is to be a Super-Guide / Coach myself. And, for me, the best way for me to get there is to start acting like one!

One of the things I’ve discovered over the years is I tend to learn the fastest when I’m teaching or helping someone else.

So, if you aren’t getting the assistance you’d like (or, would like more), perhaps we can work together. Now, because of my schedule, we won’t be setting any web-business speed records, but we will get it done!

If that works for you, click on the Let’s Stay in Contact tab on my blog (www.kenscoaching.com/blog) or Direct Message me on Twitter: @kenscoaching.

Yet I feel that I'm in the rught direction, and my knowledge of internet marketing is growing daily.

Hi Make,
at first when I read your headline I thought you were referring to the telephone cord. LOL
You can tell what I have been working on. The 800 lb gorilla - the phone.

Anyhow, some people will work harder at looking for excuses than on their business. Unfortunately, we cannot be everything to everyone. but I would like to say that until you change your expectation you cannot change your life. So, if you expect that people will not visit your website and not leave you comments than that's what will happen. Nobody wants to hang out with the grumpy and negative people.

Chill out and keep plugging away, and one day you will wake up and there will be more people seeking you out than you can get to. And some of them will be saying:"...People don't have time for me and my squidoo lenses. They don't care to leave a comment even though I keep leaving them comments." :)

To Your Success!

I just wanted to say that this email definitely hit me hard when I read it, I love the analogy of the 36' cord.

I felt like I was being hit with a ton of obstacles once I became a Superguide but WHO HASN'T, I was no special and I had to realize that to continue to move forward with what I was doing.

The quote that Eric said in his comment is something that I've pasted in the background of my computer

"Achieving success is nothing more than heading in the right direction and then solving one problem after another"

This was an inspiring article that I've saved to re-read when I encounter another 36' cord.

Mike,
I am so glad I joined Renegade Professional. I am just getting back into it now, having had 2 months off whilst I was overseas.
However the biggest hindrance for me is the sheer volume of material to read outside of the tutorials -especially as much of this has really nothing new to add but is often saying much the same thing in a different way.
I have decided now to solve this problem by staying on a srtaight and narrow path focussed only on the tutorials in Renegade Professional.
I am finding it very hard to become conversant with Digg.
Thank you for your brilliant course.

This was so good Mike and made me laugh because it is so true. Since I have been in this industry for 28 years, I can't even count the many reasons people have for giving up.

Once a person said to me that she would stick to building her business if she had children because she would meet more people due to all the activities her children would be involved in.

Then another one told me that if she did not have children she would have more time to invest in her business and that is why she was not growing.

It always gets down again to your thinking. Whatever you think about, you bring about.

I hope Jaswinder comes back to this post again and reads down the many comments here and pays close attention to what is being said by most everyone. You just got to change your self talk Jaswinder.

Email me at Bob@Now8020.com and I will be glad to comment on your content. But keep in mind, there are many more people out there than just us Renegades.

As far as retention, get this one:

I had a guy just sign up for my coaching services this week and I found that he was a Renegade Pro member since 4/2008. When I asked him where he was in the training and about his content, he said he has not done anything yet but knew that this was the place to be.

Over a year as a member!!!!

Now that's real retention!

Thanks Mike for making this business so much fun!

I know it seems really hard and REAL for people when they have a reason to quit... but what they don't realize it's at an emotional level--there is always a way to stay connected to your dreams and goals and to make a step forward. Sometimes it is slow going but it's so vital to never let go completely of your support networks.

I'm a member (quite spendy I might add) of several support networks that I almost never plug into... but just a clip from one of their emails for members or a quick review of only part of a video can be business changing for me; I stay connected to the people and resources that can move me forward.

Everyone, excellent comments... read them all, many of them more than once. I learn from you all as well!

Maybe that's a big point to make... those who succeed never stop learning and stay plugged into resources and support groups that allow them to keep learning, that keep them challenged, that keep poking them to participate.

Thanks again everyone! Good stuff.

Thanks for the encouragement, Mike. I really needed it right now. I haven't quit, but I've been "delayed" in my progress for two reasons: (1) a change in circumstances that required more traditional work for immediate dinero and (2) a lack of direction. That is the big one. I was working a lot on RBMP but accomplishing little because of my 36' chord that I couldn't identify. I've now identified it and am trying to figure out how to "connect" it and move forward.

Mike,

I was one of the first Renegade Professionals and I never had any problem I wasn't willing to solve to make it work for me.

I've been accused of spending to much time behind the keyboard by my husband...my Internet connection failed in my office and I literally moved my intire opporation to the back of my master bedroom walk in closet for 90days!

I plugged away at building my SBI! site using all the tutorials in the back office... My credit card was declined for not having my professional tuition and my 3 figure checks got held up because I didn't have the $40 on time. Even though I was making sales and money through consulting, my hsband was out of work and bills were behind.

I know that others have gone through much less, obviously, and where are they now?? Barking up some other tree with dreams unfullfilled.

And where am I now? Earning a strong residually from multiple affiliate programs (including RenPro) applying what I've learned in the Renegade Pro. Having big fun, networking with great people and on my way to 6 figures this year!

As a matter of fact a major hotel chain is paying me 4 figures to run their social media summer promotion (read: sending out a few emails)!!

I'd like to thank you Mike for creating the Renegade Profssional and I look forward to doing that forum with you :0).

I have to add my "Thanks Mike" to all that has been said so far. You have "hit the nail on the head" about excuses & I have been guilty of doing just that but have been fortunate enough to have found some really good friends since coming into Renegade Professionals who never put me down & always cheer me on. I think the secret is "ask"!! I started out sitting at my computer, not knowing what a URL or USB was & was overwhelmed with all the work I saw others doing. I nearly quit! Then I gave myself a good talking to & decided that a common theme in Mike's tutorials was "take your time, we all move at different rates, learn differently, just make sure that there is SOME action."
I decided to find the courage to let everyone know that I was, what I considered to be, "quite dumb" & ask for help. I'm glad that I did, I received it from all directions & discovered that I wasn't the only one who felt they were behind the 8 ball. Thanks to all my RenPro friends, Glwyn

Great information Mike. It is always good to ask for help before quitting anything you are passionate about.

June 27, 2009 | Unregistered CommenterCharlotte Howard

The biggest problem of a newbee in network marketing is to find his/her own, very personal way. This requires time, a strong willing to learn and the ability to apply the "theoretical knwoledge" to daily work. Even when the direction is given, almost no one knows what to start with and which steps have to follow. Another problem is the access to new people. The fear of rejection instead of affection impacts enormously. Tech problems are only one way of excuse for not doing which results in quitting and/or failing.

BUT:
Renegade Pro is exceptional - "Attraction Marketing" really works!!!
I'm on the way to learn how to approach new people in a completely different way and I DO the theoretical "how it works" - day by day.
A few weeks ago absolutely incredible!
THANKS!!!

Wow. I kind of knew what the post would be about before I read it, but wow I did not think anyone would quit because they were having log-in issues. I'm here in an African country. We're 8 hours behind so i wake up at 2am to join the webinars.

We have epileptic power (electricity) supply in my country. Several times the electricity goes off while i'm on the webinar and i'm suddenly cut off. It takes some minutes to leave the comfort of my room, go outside at that time of the morning to switch over to the generator set (The 'gen' as we call it here. You ever had to generate your own electricity?). And believe me, the gen may just not work on some days. It too disappoints regularly. It's only a machine afterall.

Most of the time here, no video plays smoothly over the internet during daytime, but much better at night, so i have devised a system whereby i wake up at about 2am on some days (hoping the gen wont give up on me,i was lucky today! ) and i study as much as much as can of the videos and materials in the back office. And i repeat this twice or so a week. I realise it's not possible for me to go at the same pace as others and i accept that fact.

Even to obtain dollar cash to fund my Mastercard and pay for my tutorials was a big challenge two months ago. We can only buy such small foreign exchange amounts from black marketers (well acknowledged, and the most common source in my country). The exchange rate suddenly shot up by almost 90%, the marketers became cautious and simply refused to sell what they had. I was on this for almost two weeks and solved it only after i went the long winding route of getting someone in the USA to fund my Mastercard while i gave her mom the equivalent.

Boy, talk of 36'' cords. I can give you a long list. But whose going to give in to them, not me.

I'm on this programe because i've finally come across a system i know will work to get me (and many others in my team), to the financial freedom i've sought for several years in my network marketing business, so i'm NOT going to allow anything get in my way.

And i say to anyone out there whose facing challenges right now and wants to give up, DONT, DON'T GIVE UP.PLOD ON.

To our success.

WOW! What powerful and motivational stuff!

I first got a wake up call when I read Brian Tracy "GOALS" say something to the effect that fear for business comes from ignorance. I've heard Mike speak along those lines also. That spoke volumes. I have read so many other statements that stick but I keep reciting this to myself to keep plugging.

We do all work at different speeds and I know for me I need to quite apologizing for it. The Renegade Pro has made this convenient to work at everyone's pace and level of confidence. I have read all the comments posted here and hear so many say the same things I think. This has been a tremendous network support.

Mike you are a real motivation. With your simple, non-intimadating level style of teaching makes one feel comfortable in their own skin.

Thank you and all others who have posted for sharing, it touches on emotional levels that can't be imagined.

Blessings,
Teri

Mike,

You make a good point.

However, any person that is feeling success can create a strong argument supporting his action plan as the only path to riches. Not that I doubt the Ren Pro system - I'm with you here my man!

But what I mean is, I have heard successfull people use the phrase "So why would anyone quit our system?" or other motivational words, acually to the point of holding your concious hostage.

An example in past MLM life was how my upline did just that: Sacrifice being with my wife at the moment of the birth of our daughter, because it is more important to fly overseas to attend a yearly company event - from TelAviv to Saltlake City! - as we reside in Israel. (This is old school motivation)

Don't worry - I stayed with my wife.

So having been through the jungle of various types of "motivation messages", the good stuff really stands out to me.

Mike, your motivational words not only stand out, but they GLOW!

Spoken like a true leader! - Your the MAN!

Mike -

You hit the nail on the head (as usual). It is amazing how people (including me) will let little things get in the way of accomplishing big things. I just realized that I let one VERY small thing get in my way, and it has been a month since I learned anything new.

I now have a 35" cord hanging where I can see it every day.

Thanks for all you do.

Hi Mike:

GREAT article. I found this to be very inspiring, as I've got a 'few' 36" cords laying around my computer and house.

It's time for me to tackle those 'cords' and get moving in building my business.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Mike,
That email came just in time, not that I was thinking of quiting...Winners Never Quit & Quitters never Win as the saying goes. I just like to say that F.E.A.R ( false evidence appearing real) comes in so many different forms. Your question..What might be " YOUR " 36- inch cord? I guess if I am honest, I have to admit that I was afraid to ask for help, and struggled to find answers by myself and so wasted alot of time which made me frustrated with myself. And then I felt 90 days were comming up fast and I am still stuck with a silly problem
I finally asked for help and got it. I like to thank the Team and you too Mike for the system we as members have access to. Just reading the posts here has given me a great buzz, as I feel I am not the only one struggling, thanks again

There's a lot that can be learned from just reading these comments. Really good work!

I'm particularly seeing that a fear of asking for help is a biggie!

Mike,

Reading this article made me think of my grandmother. She is literally the poster child for not stopping until you find the solution to your problem. Even if it takes months or years!

At 77 years old, my grandmother, Irma, doesn't sit back and let life happen to her. She has been a widow now for 16 years. Ever since my grandfather passed away, tasks like bills, getting her car fixed and buying new appliances have been left up to her.

This past January, her credit card was wrongly charged and she couldn't figure out why or who charged it. Well let me tell ya, she called people left and right. Everyone kept saying they couldn't help her, they didn't know. No one was owning up. But FINALLY, 5 months later, she got a refund statement for the $70 she was mistakenly charged.

When she told me this story, her face was proud. She held her head high and straightened her back. "I never quit trying," she said. "Never in my life. I'll always figure it out."

Your article was timely - she had just told me this story yesterday. And it is one of many stories she has in her back pocket, ready to tell me when a task seems overwhelming. She leaves me with this advice:

"Wouldn't you like to turn that goal into an accomplishment?"
