Quick Update

Mike KlinglerHi everyone,

It's been a tough few weeks trying to heal up.  I've had a bad cold (or something) since mid December.  It is nearly impossible to do Live or recorded training events with a cold as bad as this one's been.  I'm feeling MUCH better in the last 2 days but still have this cough.  And wouldn't you know it.  I woke up today with a throbbing tooth ache!  I'm 36 and have NEVER had a cavity in my life (ever)... this is really distracting!  What's going on here with this body of mine!?

I was feeling a bit uncomfortable with the fact that so much time has passed without providing you guys with the material I'd planned for late December (see the article below if you hadn't known what we were planning next).  I have done trainings before when I was congested and with the help of Sudafed it seemed to be fine... but it just wasn't realistic with THIS cold.  It's been quite nasty.

To see a picture of me with pale skin and puffy eyes, read this article Barbara Silva posted about us meeting at the airport recently.  I posted a comment below it as well.  If you click on that link and don't see the picture of Barbara and me (I'm the scruffy scary looking one)... try clicking on the link more than once.  I noticed I had to go there twice to be taken to the article with the photo.

So, while I have tons of catching up to do on the training I promised in December (see the article below for more on what's in store) I have to hold off a bit until I feel 100% again.

I haven't been doing the Live or recorded Webinars for a few weeks, but I haven't been slacking :-)  I've been working on a huge project, mostly documenting stuff we will need for the programmers to implement it for you--it's going to very helpful for everyone regardless of your expertise level (I'll leave it at that for now :-)

I am thinking before Jan 15th I'll be back doing the regular trainings 100%.

Hey... if you'd like to see proof that I 'really am sick' and I'm not just playing 'hooky' (or however you spell that) read Barbara's article where she snapped a photo of us while I saw her off at the Portland airport recently.  When she took this picture I joked, "Don't use this in your marketing :-)" -- you'll see why.

Back on the saddle soon!

Mike

P.S. For a peek of what training is on its way (carried over from December) see the article below that I posted last month.  That's where we'll pick up the ball from.

Welcome to middle age! Hope you are 100% real soon. Photo isn't as bad as you think. Just looks like you pulled an all-nighter, that's all. LOL

Hi Charles, that's what I was afraid of--if I can just get my tail back into the gym I think I may be able to turn it around!

Mike,
Sorry to hear you weren't feeling your best during the holidays. I'm slightly relieved that you were a little off your game, as I had lots of out of town guests and family time. I'm just glad I didn't miss anything! My kids are back in school today and I'm ready for a great year with you and Marketing Merge.
Sincerely,
Becky Joubert

Mike,
Glad to hear that you are on the mend. I know what you mean about "tasty" bug. I too have been under the weather. I don't attribute it to middle age, it just happens. I am just happy to know that I didn't miss anything either. Looking forward to learning more and growing in the new year.

To your Health,

Hi Mike,
I am glad to hear you are getting better. I am new here been going thru training for about a month now loving it so much great information. My brother in law must have caught something similar to what you have he’s been sick for awhile. When he called me on the phone I didn’t even know who he was for a while his voice was about gone. Take care and stay on the mend.

Sincerely,
Tim Sprinkle

Thanks for the update Mike and glad to hear you are getting better. I guess if there was a time for you to have a break it would be over the holiday. However, it is not much fun when you are feeling like that.

Look forward to spend another great year with you as the great leader you have become. You make a big difference in many peoples lives, so get well soon!

PS: Keep in mind that if you need any health products for that extra edge to speed up your healing, you now have plenty of friends to call on. :)

You will be well soon,
Bob

Dear Mike, You are Proof!
When someone loves what they do and are so passionate about it that they will work themselves into the ground. It can be very easy to neglect ourselves in our journey to accomplish a goal or task. We can become consumed by our work if we are not careful...

I have been spending a lot of time in my Renegade Pro area the last while diving into various trainings and so when I saw your pic I caught myself thinking wow he did not sound sick...LOL!

You have done a fantastic job in what you offer for professionals in our field so taking some time to get better is a GOOD Thing for you and for us.
Can't wait til your "Back In The Saddle Again".

Mike,
Thanks for the update. It was nice to hear you are getting better. We have missed you..
Barbara's meeting with you was a joy to read, but you did look tired for being sick so long.

We knew you haven't been playing..

Mike,

I'm so glad you're back! Be careful and take care of you for us, okay. I was afraid you had pneumonia and actually, you might have. Did you get a chest xray? Sorry - it's the nurse talking. Please rest a little. You look awful - just kidding. I haven't read Barbara's article yet :) That's my next stop.

We missed you,
Terri

Hey Mike,

One of my good friends who lives in NE Portland got hit with double pneumonia, and was on the "disabled list" for a month. And he is normally a healthy guy too. Could be something crazy lurking out of the Willamette that's gotten into the air.

I hope you are feeling better, and staying better.

As you gear back up and begin to prepare further tutorials, I wanted to plant a seed in your mind with the blogging courses, in particular, as you move forward with that training.

I am currently in the process of learning more about Title and/or Meta tags and the effect it has on SEO.

I'm hoping you can begin to address this topic.

Within my Squarespace back office, I have gone to Website Management>Website Settings>Search/Indexing and checked the box that allows individual page descriptions. Once that box is checked, each of my page configuration menus has a description field where I can add a page description for just that page.

But it's new, and I'm making a mess. Using your training tutorials as a reference point would be helpful.

Thanks for the update on your whereabouts, you've been missed.

Mike,
Thanks for giving all of us updates despite your being sick! Thanks so much for the awesome work you've done, training us and giving us all the moral encouragement we need to succeed in this biz. With tons of biz opportunities popping up on the net, you've really taught us very valuable lesson if we want to succeed online - be a value provider 1st and the rewards will follow! That's what I have to constantly remind myself, especially when the itch for instant gratifications kick in :) You're such an inspiration!
I think you're allowed to slack off a little bit given all the hard work you've done already! Hope you'll get better soon!
I wish you and all the Renegade University students lots of success in 2009!

You are very valuable to all of us. You are the real deal and have really earned my respect

Hey Mike!!! Really sorry you had to go through that. It is just this time of year, seems like everybody is catching something. Sometimes that is the only way we slow down, is when we are sick. Thank God we don't have to feel like that all the time. Would be hard to get anything accomplished. I have just started training with you and have become your friend. Just wanted to thank you for what is to come in 2009!!! I know I am on the right track by following you. What an awesome leader you are to all who will follow. May you have a successful and blessed New Year. Always, Amy

Hello Mike,

I am sorry to hear that you are sick. You know I totally relate to what you are experiencing. I had an absessed tooth recently. The weird thing about it besides never experiencing this before, having the flu both before & after this infection. I was sicker then a dog!

I had not gotton this sick in years. The reason I mentioned it is their is an interesting connection that you might want to know about.

My sister lives in Portland she is also a dental assistent, she said that when you are fighting an infection of any kind including a tooth infection your immune system is weakend.

This makes you more open to getting sick. So, if your tooth pain is because of an infection that is why you got so sick. So, this may be true in your case as well. I would like to say I hope that you are able to get your tooth problem solved & start feeling better.

Garlic is a natural antibotic, it may help you, it has helped me ward off tooth infection. I also have been able to fight off the flu ever since. I just want to let you know for FYI. It might help you too. I used it because doctors & dentists are hesitant to perscribe antibotics because of the fear of resistence. This is an excellent alternative.

I look forward to your trainings & hope you get well very soon Mike. Good to hear from you.

Mike,
We love you and support you as you recover. This was your second go round with whatever the "bug" was, and that's probably why it hit so hard - you were already in a weakened condition for round two.

All the more reason to take your time to get your strength back. I, for one, don't mind having the time to go back over some of the materials I've already done - even some of the early tutorials because I always pick up some new gem.

Sorry about putting up that pic - but dog gone it meeting Mike Klingler is NEWS in our community and I just had to share it - I promise that next time, we'll both be all spiffed up and I'll post the before and after pics! LOL

Hi Mike,

I'm so sorry you have been ill. The body is definitely giving you the message that you needed the break.

We know how hard you work and that you don't know the meaning of the word 'slack'.

Take the time you need to recover and we're looking forward to having you back with us.

You look great actually. I was just looking for the Digg email and I found it. Here it is 1am in the morning and I am looking for this horrible picture and when I finally see it you look fine. Ah a true leader knows how to keep up following. Take care and get to feeling better.

Mike

So sorry to hear you are still under the weather.

Heads up on the toothache. I traveled to Italy a few years back, had a sinus infection, cold, and by the time I landed in Italy I had tooth that was giving me fits.

Turned out to be the sinus swollen and lying on a nerve. Hurt like H___!
However the front tooth was eventually damaged, actually the jaw bone, because of a sinus infection. Mind you the tooth was in perfect condition.

All ended well but I had a long process of surgery to replace the bone and all that not so fun stuff.

Now I am not trying to be your mother here, but I did turn 60 this year , so I am old enough to be, so a piece of advice don't let that continue very long before you seek out a professional.

Now you go get well and we will be waiting for you.

All the Best

Patty

Hi Mike,

Your absense has been missed.

Glad you are now on the mend.

My husband went down with a cold that turned to bronchitis and like you he took a downturn and we are supposed to live in a beautiful climate. So these virus's are also invading the universe.

What's the gift in all of this? Well it makes you realise that you must value your health because we all need you soooo much to lead us forward in 2009.

I'm sure it's you a chance to reflect and produce some interestin and challenging webinars for 2009.

Hi Mike,

Hope your feeling better soon. Sure know what it's like to have a bug that just will NOT leave!

But hey guys, while Mike works on mending up I have a challenge for you!

Charles Graham challenged me to create 7 videos and 7 articles/blog posts in 7 days and never to be one to walk away from a challenge I dutifully accepted...

Now, I'd like to pass this awesome challenge on to you all. Who will step up to the plate and play with us?

Post your stuff in Facebook Renegades for us all to see, comment on and Bookmark!

Looking forward to seein everyone's work.

Hi Mike,

Like others on the team, I hate to see you suffering and taking so long to recover, but am using the time to play catch up on the trainings and work on my 2009 strategies.

Sometimes our bodies just tell us it's time to rest, and being the driver you are, sickness is sometimes the avenue that forces it on us. Hey, don't apologize or feel guilt in any way. Just take the time to rest up for what promises to be a great year for all of us.

When you are fully recovered, we know you'll have something tremendous for us and we want you at 100% health. So, I trust you will do what it takes to get well, even if it means a few more days off your game plan.
