For The "Struggling" Networker, With Heart

As you've likely noticed, Ann and I are partial to entrepreneurs of all types, and that's reflected in the business training we do.
 
But because we both developed our skills FIRST in the networking industry we have a soft spot for "the struggling networker."

Today's lesson is about Attracting high quality leads to you.  

But I should stress:

The emphasis is on 'high quality' because a lead in and of itself is worthless unless the person is responsive.

The message today is simple--

It is something you can change about your approach to business immediately.  And the moment you do, you're on a new course--

A course that attracts business and fits your personality.

While this strategy can be used by ALL types of business owners and entrepreneurs, not 'just' networkers, I am talking strictly to networkers today because they're the only large group of business growers who tend to "NOT" do what I'm about to describe.

"Take measures to establish credibility within a social community--so people see you as a valuable expert."

Those of you who need this most are the same ones who resist it--because it might be painful for you to even consider becoming a valuable contributor within a social community.  

Many think, "It's not a fast pay-off."

Well, I beg to differ.  

How well has the "so-called" short-cut been working for you so far??

It may be time to fill the empty void in your business, where the money and time have been falling into. 
 
That empty void is the misplaced belief that you'll succeed faster if you focus solely on generating leads so you can sell stuff to them.  Don't you realize they can feel that from you?

Fill the void first with a contribution to a social community to gain exposure and credibility, because that is WHAT attracts people to you and makes the leads you generate "become" responsive.

Oh, now we're getting to the good stuff.

How do you do it?

In traditional business, people join associations and social networks, while establishing themselves as a credible contributor within that group.

They volunteer.

They might network at Toast Masters or join networking clubs.

That can work, but it is not nearly as leveraging as doing this same thing on the Internet.
 
And that's what many are doing now...
 
They become contributors within online social networks and communities.

Traditional business owners totally "get it" ... If they're successful.

It's about positioning...

"To attract a lot of business, don't just focus on finding 'fresh meat' to sell to every day."

First, position yourself in ways that will establish trust, credibility and that naturally draw people to you.  

If you look at the most successful networkers, this IS exactly what they've been doing as well.  Its just not the norm for the industry.

I was with a networking company for 14 years... I noticed that most of the successful people were active in their community in some way, like at their church. 
 
One of them attended 'networking functions' regularly, but not only that... she was always volunteering and taking a leadership role there.
 
One of them had a radio show. 
 
These people were socially influential BECAUSE they did things that placed themselves in front of people as a credible resources in one way or another.

Very few networkers approach their business this way--because they are so shortsighted they can't see that the path they're choosing leads nowhere.  

They are so fixated on selling "systematically" that people feel uncomfortable buying from them altogether.  Sure you might make some sales, but that focus will of course be full of resistance.  Few people will ever break-even because they never learn what really attracts business to them.

Don't misunderstand ...

I didn't say not to systematize your approach--you should. 
 
But only AFTER or while you're positioning yourself as a credible resource within social communities.  Because then as you generate leads, you have credibility. 
 
That is what makes a lead responsive.

Why do so many networkers resist networking altogether, and why do they resist doing the very things that would position them as a credible resource within a community?

I think it has a lot to do with the lottery mentality so pervasive in the networking industry--caused by the way opportunities are promoted.  It's tragic.

Dare to be the successful exception:

If you're seriously considering succeeding, and you'd like the process to be more natural and effortless, consider doing what the successful people do.

There are a lot of ways to go about it such as some of the examples I gave above--
 
You can use a blog and social media to build an audience online.
 
But even within those social communities, you want to stand out from the crowd.

Did You Have Problems Playing Recording With Ellie Drake?

The Most Important Message I've Shared With You All Year...

Hello Renegade Professionals,
 
This is the most important message I've shared with you this year. 
 
Naturally I'm encouraging you to give this special attention today.
 
Interestingly, I didn't plan what I would say. 
I didn't spend hours crafting this. 
 
I was able to sit down with a cup of coffee this morning and just spill my beans because we've been preparing for it over the last 21 months, since opening Renegade Professional in February of 2008.
 
You could call this email one of my 'grand opus' content pieces (that's content you create for your target audience that will be a classic--that will have an unusual impact--and be among the most valuable compared to 95% of everything else you write, create or do over the course of your entire career).
 
This is a tipping point moment for everyone I can successfully connect with today.
 
Before I begin sharing this important and timely topic about your current focus and the work you've been doing, I'd like to first recognize those who just enrolled with Coaching Cognition.

When Distraction Pays...
 
What I'm about to share with you may sound like a contradition to my teachings on 'focus.'
 
I'll be discussing why it is so important to consider enrolling with Coaching Cognition regardless of anything else you're doing and learning right now. 
 
I'll be discussing why I encourage you to MAKE this work regardless of where your head is, and regardless of the challenges. 
 
I'll be encouraging you to do whatever it takes. 
 
This is definitely not something you hear me say often when it concerns your focus and a single training course--In fact, its unlikely you will ever hear me say it again about anything other than learning "THIS".
 
At the 'sales page' I discuss WHY learning "coaching skills" will change everything for you. 
 
From the number of leads you generate to the amount of influence you have with a prospect. 
It's more important than anything else one can learn because this is something you carry inside of you. It expresses itself with every word and decision--every move you make.  Every system or tool you use.
 
It's more important than my favorite methods of lead generation (social media and SEO).  It's more important than PPC.  I describe exactly why that is on the sales page in your back office.
 
Indeed, success requires a foundational skill most are ignorant of.
While Renegade Professional teaches you the tools that generate leads, understand that at the core of it, success has nothing to do with PPC, SEO, social media, lead generation or prospecting.

THAT is why most of you have missed the boat on developing these coaching skills so far. 
 
It is why so few win.  They don't understand this.
 
Why They Don't Understand...
 
While "coaching skills" are the single most important missing piece for people in marketing and business, its the hardest to understand because its intangible--you will NEVER see it.  You just see the results of it.
You simply feel it when people have it (you follow them).  You feel it when you have it (people follow you).
 
This is what sets successful people apart.

Whether they developed this on purpose and head-on, or the long way through painful and costly osmosis over the years, they learned this at different varying degrees.  It is what sets them apart.  It is why some people using the same tools, opportunities or systems as you do get so much more out of it.
Do you dig that?  "Its cool man..."

It means you can join them by focusing on this right here, right now.
 
Before I begin, understand that I don't aim to 'sell' Coaching Cognition to you just for the sake of selling it.  We have a long-term vision for the Renegade Professional community, which I am sure is evident to you if you've been here for a while.  If you're new to the community, follow along here and I'm sure you'll pick up on it.
I'll do my best.
 
Choosing the right opportunities for you...
 
This is a biggie you've likely heard me talk about before (choosing the right opportunities for you).
 
It is vitally important to be able to recognize when its the right time to take advantage of certain opportunities that directly address where YOU ARE right now in life and business-- so you know your next proper step using the resources around you to get to where you want to go within a year or less, instead of far off in the distance.
 
You've likely heard me talk about the importance of 'focus' and not to allow yourself to get distracted with every new training that comes along unless there's a very good reason for it.
 
Here's why Coaching Cognition is AN exception:
 
1. There are mechanical things to learn, and then there are intangibles that give you the ability to have significant INFLUENCE.
 
While I'd like you to continue your lead generation practice and moving through Renegade Professional...  developing your content out there on your blog or website and on the social sites, or applying the use of PPC and networking, along with SEO as we teach in the back office and in the Super Guide mastermind program... 
You must still learn to influence and attract people in order to excel with ANY form of marketing or system or opportunity.
 
The ability to influence comes from listening, confidence, and a deeper insight into the needs of your target audience.

The personal interaction is huge in and of itelf, and something that is almost impossible to find out there anywhere other than Coaching Cognition.
 
While it is optional to become a paid coach as a partner on our platform, and there are plenty of other reasons to become a coach (such as how it will impact you in the ways I've already described), there is a huge benefit to getting paid for your time, hourly, while you build up your primary business. 
 
It can have a major impact in not just 'making ends meet' while you build up your bigger business dreams, but how your spouse and family view what you're doing.  
That can really be a stress reliever in and of itself.
 
It also impacts how you view and value yourself. 
 
It impacts how your prospects, clients and partners view you.
 
I can't emphasize enough how quickly things change once you start earning income by assisting people in your areas of expertise, which could be as simple as showing people how to load their photo on Facebook or Squidoo, or something related to your business like coaching on wellness topics. 
 
4. Coaching Cognition is a networking place. 
 
This feeds you.
 
You will meet people who are on the same path as you--and you will gain tremendously from that personal interaction.  This is vital to success online.
I couldn't have generated so many leads and attracted the success I have without having a small group of "like-minded" people to talk to and network with along the way. 
 
5. Time is of the essence:  The opportunity to enroll with Coaching Cognition ends soon and will not come again until late into next year.  There may be a study course but that is not the same at all as having the personal interaction so vital to your progress.

Make Your Business Effortless

Many of you already know my story...

I started using social media and SEO and arrived on the scene practically overnight... and in 2 years built a multi-million dollar company generating leads through these mechanisms, plus just a tad bit of PPC.

If you follow my message here you'll learn why I see PPC, SEO and Social Media as the same--I recognize and use them at their foundational level (as lead tools). 

But they have very little to do with success in lead generation.  You'll learn why if you follow.

What's interesting to most people is that 2 years ago I learned what a blog was... and what SEO meant... for the very first time.

How did I generate thousands of  leads on my list using a blog, within a few weeks of learning what a blog was for the first time, while others struggle after a year of tinkering--knowing more than I did technically?

How did I begin getting hundreds of hits to my blog and lead capture pages every day like clock-work using Twitter, when I barely knew how to use it... within days of setting up my account?

Why is it when I connect with a prospect on the phone they nearly always want to follow me? If I WANT them to.

What Renegade Professional "Beginners" Should Be Thinking About Right Now

If you're new to Renegade Professional you have a lot on your mind.
 
That's because you have a lot to do. 
 
You're about to go from where you are now to where you want to be. 
 
And that's no small feat.  
 
Along the way your success is at risk.
 
You might "give in" to the most common success killer I've witnessed--
 
Distraction.
 
Don't.
 
I've watched even our best students give in to it.  But they returned and prevailed.
 
I've seen others give in to it... never to return.  Wandering through the wilderness, into some other direction that probably sounded easier or felt more comfortable at first (but just ended up making life more difficult, and success 'seem' even further and further away).
 
Realize--
 
If you don't complete your training OF COURSE you can't make the same business transformations as our students who HAVE completed their training.
 
So do that. 
 
Finish it.  
 
Follow through.
 
Resist the same urge that has caused you to miss opportunities in the past; that caused you to be limited in your options; limited in your pay.
 
Advance yourself once and for all by resisting the urge to be mediocre. 
 
At first we teach you the tools.  How to get yourself out there online.  And how the principles of attracting leads works in reality...
 
But our community offers much more than that.  And after JUST a few months or less you will be past that stage of just getting online and having a web presence.
 
You may need to learn how to influence people.  You may need to increase your value.
 
Take advantage of ALL we have to offer because there's a reason we offer it if its here. 
 
Marketing is just a piece of your process.  You have to develop all of your essential list to see your business come to life. 
 
Yes, marketing is on that "essential list". 
 
But there are a several other KEY 'essential' pieces as well--all of which we help you tackle head on in this community if you just reach out and grab it.
 
Overwhelm and Losing Focus...
 
(Is the grass 'really' greener on the other side?)

(Is this 'really' THAT difficult?)
 
Are you resisting success because you just don't 'see' how close you are?
 
In the 'Start Here' check list of your back office we address the issue of 'overwhelm' directly, almost immediately BEFORE you even started your training.
 
It is called: 
 
"An in-depth look at how to "customize" and "personalize" your training plan and business development."
 
This class gets you prepared to start thinking about taking control of where you put your focus based on where you're at now and where YOU want to go next in your business (this is part of developing the 'finer distinctions' and keener insight I mentioned on the essential list recently).

Maybe you need to watch it again.
 
Take your time.  Because what you feel inside is even more important than what's happening outside.
 
Relax a bit more. 
 
Reflect a bit more. 
 
Trust this process a bit more.
 
Inner turmoil and a sense of "lack" (not having what you want fast enough) leads to self doubt and self destruction:
 
Lack of focus, lack of follow through, feelings of overwhelm, or just plain frustration are all factors in leading someone to DISTRACTION and failure.
 
It takes trust to see a process through. 
 
I feel partly responsible for helping you obtain the trust needed in Renegade Professional so that you move forward with the training and ultimately prevail in business without all the painstaking mistakes I had to undergo. 
 
That's why I'm writing you today.  You suddenly popped in my mind again.  I felt concerned.
 
Maybe you just need to hear that you CAN do this. 
 
You CAN if and only if you follow through.
 
What Makes Succeeding Students Different Than Those Who Get Distracted?
 
People who move forward through the training are growing into leaders faster than any other community I've seen. 
 
What made them different? 
 
I have noticed that they were more motivated to succeed than most--I know some of their reasons because I've gotten to know some of these students who have grown... their reasons are personal.  And powerful.
 
Get in touch with your 'reasons' and you will find the energy and focus required to move forward and win.
 
Learning the mechanics...
 
Again, the first step is to learn the tools (the mechanics) of the Internet. 
 
The tutorials take you click by click through the various places where you do that. 
 
Get a Coach
 
When you need help we have coaches ready to help you who have been where you are now.
 
Most of these coaches offer a free 15 minute consultation before you decide if you'd like to hire them to help you get over bumps along the way.  Many charge as low as $25/hour.  The more experienced a coach the more they charge.  Find a coach that's right for you to connect with from time to time.  If they can't help you with a really specific issue they can refer you to other coaches who can.

Beyond the Tools...
 
Ultimately, once you've mastered the tools (which took me a few months and others less or more)... its time to gain influence.
 
Influence is, by far, the most valuable asset you can obtain. 
 
For influence you need exposure (standing out), you need confidence, skills and something unique or valuable to offer others, which is what attracts them to you.
 
We have developed a number of ways for you to collaborate with us to develop your Influence. 
 
You've likely heard of these programs.

I would have NEVER grown my business and don't know anyone else who could have succeeded without connecting with real people along the way for help.  I paid tens of thousands of dollars (when I didn't have it) connecting with coaches who offered less in value than you have access to here for a fraction of a fraction of the cost I paid.

How Much You Make Is Directly Tied To This...

Did you know that the extent of VALUE you offer in your communication to prospects and clients is proportionate to how much you make?
 
Same is true in your JOB... However you make your money, your communication skills SIGNIFICANTLY impact what you earn.  Improving your communication is the fastest way to better opportunities and increased pay.
 
Uh Oh...
Probably not what you wanted to hear.
 
I AM sorry if this bursts your bubble...
 
But you might be looking for answers about how to make more moolah' (or obtain more success in your work or business) in all the wrong places.
 
And perhaps you're thinking that a system or opportunity is the solution when what you're actually lacking is good communication.

Becoming A Paid Coach, Or Maybe... Just An Amazingly Valuable & Influential Person

When I was in a networking business I did a TON of prospecting on the telephone.
 
I had to deal with a lot of prospects who were VERY challenging to work with. 
 
I remember my early years--
 
Talk about frustration!
 
Many of them had no money.
 
Others had unrealistic expectations.
 
Some were just down right depressed. 
 
Others hostile. 
 
Some would talk and talk and talk...
Some were distracted.
 
Some were really kind people but totally feared change.
 
Others only needed a nudge. For me to ask one good question that ended up leading them forward THANKING me for the dramatic impact it had on them it.  Wow.
 
I learned the hard way--and the long way--how to positively influence people; how to change the way they think about things by helping them discover the answers for themselves.
 
As you know, with Barbara Silva's Coaching Cognition training soon opening up, you'll be able to learn these skills head on, in a safe environment and quickly.

The Impact of a "Real Life" Role Playing Session
 
When role playing, one "coach in training" will pretend to be a challenging prospect or client.  The other 'coach in training' will pretend to be the Coach. 
 
Interactive discussions among the students and Barbara help the Coaches pinpoint key moments in the conversation where it could move forward, or fall flat.
 
Ever had a conversation with a prospect or client fall flat or go south when you wanted it to go north?
 
Imagine holding a compass that you could use during any given conversation and always knowing where north is (moving toward their goals positively).
 
And whenever your prospect or client goes the wrong direction you're able to ask a question to get them to realize ON THEIR OWN how to correct course so they can achieve what it is they want faster.
 
You'll have "Influence" with such a skill.
 
Through role playing with Barbara and the other students, you'll learn to recognize patterns in conversation and what to do to build bridges that lead it forward constructively. 
 
The power comes by learning to recognize the patterns and 'own' the questions that definitively lead someone forward. 
 
One of the role playing sessions I listened to was between Eric Walker and Claire Covington--they were in the first Coaching Cognition training course offered by Barbara.
 
Here, Eric Walker role plays as the client and pretends to have just signed up in a new opportunity and has very "Unrealistic Expectations."
 
Claire Covington pretends to be the Coach.
 
They then discuss the pivotal moments in the conversation where it could go north or 'south' and this is when you pick up the skills.

You'll have access to the recordings of this very role playing session with Claire and Eric, along with many more from the first students who have now graduated from Coaching Cognition. 
 
AND, of course... you'll be able to have 'accelerated experience' of your own by partaking in the new LIVE sessions offered.

"Keeping It Real" -- The Ultimate Success Story

Have you ever questioned yourself--or doubted yourself--about certain business decisions you've made along the way? 
 
I know I have.
 
This is how we figure stuff out.
 
It's how we discover who we 'really' are in business--
 
It's How You Discover Your Brand. 
 
Your brand is what you're selling (it's you).
 
It's the most valuable piece. 
 
Once you have it business gets easy.  And fun. 
 
And profitable.
 
But doubt--in and of itself--isn't enough to discover YOU in business.
 
It's just a part of it. 
 
In fact, doubt is destructive without TRUST.
 
And yet, "doubting" will serve you as long as you've included trust in the mix. 
 
This is when your power gets turned on.
 
Here I'm precisely describing how you end up:
 
- Loving what you do
- While the good money flows inward
- And the value you offer flows out

It's the ULTIMATE success story. 
 
It's the only success story. 
 
Can any of this be accomplished by just following a formula? 
 
Is there such thing as a marketing formula, or a proven system?

Here's my take:
 
Yes, there's a time and place for formulas and systems, but they are way overrated. 
 
Because they don't have a soul. 
 
Without soul you got nothin'.
 
Are you focused on formulas and a system, or are you focused on acquiring EACH of the soulful skills needed to succeed (click if you missed the 'essential list')?
 
Back to how I discovered my brand (to assist you in your journey of finding YOURS)...

--A Recent Bout With Doubt--
 
I did a leap recently in my own journey while thinking about how to introduce Coaching Cognition.  
 
My gut told me to avoid the time trap of doing a 'big launch.'
 
That would be a huge distraction for our team. 
 
And frankly, it's not a passion of mine to create a thorough launch sequence (though that has its place). 
 
My passion, at least for now, is building out the infrastructure for our growing community of entrepreneurs--landmark projects like Coaching Cognition.
 
As I thought about 'launch', I leaned toward keeping it simple--so simple it wouldn't even be noticed as a launch at all.  It would be more like an introduction.  I'd allow the 'marketing' to unfold on its own spontaneously. 
 
Of course we'd educate on why "coaching skills" are vital to one's success. 
 
For example, Barbara Silva, our coach of coaches, led two webinars this summer discussing the power of coaching skills; what it is and what its not; and how many new students will find their own way into business success for the first time as a paid coach with us. 
 
In my last email I talked about the 'essential list' everyone in business should be tackling head on -- that its the only shortcut that really exists.  That email highlights the value of coaching.
 
But emails like that weren't planned. They were spontaneous.
 
The email I'm writing now wasn't planned. 
 
And yet, in a sense, this is all part of the launch, or at least the introduction, of Coaching Cognition. 
 
It kind of just goes like this...
 
Because Coaching Cognition is our main focus right now... its naturally what occupies my mind... so it's naturally mentioned and referenced when I share teaching points (like in the last email) and connect with you in emails like today.
 
--Trusting Your Way--
 
I trusted that if we share some main points, the right people who are ready would join us without the need for fanfare, and once again a large group would make a transformational advancement in their businesses together.
 
But until very recently, I also had doubt in myself on this very thing I trusted...
 
"Maybe we do need a full blown launch plan for Coaching Cognition?"  
 
--Doubting--
 
We've done very well with our business.  And yet, we've never really focused a lot on the marketing. 
 
Could we do even better if we did? 
 
Are there people we haven't reached, who we could have helped, if we marketed more heavily?
 
I've often reflected about my 'way' of marketing, thinking it was my weakest point.
 
Most marketers teach to use 'launch formulas' or a full blown 'launch sequence' to REALLY get people's attention. 
 
These are calculated. 
 
A launch formula or sequence is a highly orchestrated sequence of well crafted emails, and/or reports and/or other planned steps to prepare your audience to buy something from you.

When implemented correctly they're extremely effective (at generating up front sales).
But I didn't want to do that.
 
It's odd for most online marketers when they hear things like this from me but, "I don't think about selling all that much." 
 
Instead, I focus on CONNECTING with people who really need what we offer but just don't know it yet, and then on effectively COMMUNICATING what we offer so they totally 'get' it. 
 
Before they even buy they're already light years ahead of where they were.  I shift their context by 'keeping it real'.  Rarely do I feel an urge for fanfare. 
 
Some may say I'm still selling--and yes, that's happening. 
 
But the difference is this:
 
I didn't produce these sales by focusing on a formula.  A system has never really been THE SOLUTION, no matter how hard I've tried to make that fly over the years.
 
Instead, as I discussed recently in the only real short cut that exists, I've focused on developing the skills needed (the essential list most avoid) that I believe everyone must hit head on if they want to end the struggle and move onto their own brand of ultimate success.
 
Once and for all.
 
But this is all stuff I figured out recently. 
 
Actually, I knew some of it all along and I trusted it.  But I also doubted myself throughout the process over the years... even up til now until a new level of clarity has hit.
 
It's now reached me at a higher level of clarity than ever... and thus my brand solidifies, business becomes even easier yet, and the sensation of Ultimate Success is heightened once more. 
 
The doubt along the way was healthy because it caused me to reflect. 
 
But it served me ONLY because I trusted myself at the same time... and found my own way to steer another direction (away form formulas, systems and promises) and toward "the essential list" and authenticity.
 
I notice that every successful person I've met, regardless of what they 'think' have done the same thing.  They'd be successful regardless of the system or formula they use, because they'll always choose the right one for THEM.  And they'll do more than that.  They've developed themselves through the essential list... either directly and quickly or by default through painstaking trial and error.  It has to happen one way or another.
 
"If Only I Knew Then What I Know Now..."
 
I've been through the "ringer" in business--and maybe that's why I continue to work  hard to get the  message across that Learning Coaching Skills IS the Fastest Shortcut to Success.

Attention Coaching Cognition Coaches – How to Refer Your Clients so You Can Get Started Coaching!

 

Even though our coaching doors haven’t officially opened, I know that many of you are already receiving inquiries about coaching.  The first thing to do is to either have your clients ask about purchasing credits by emailing support or you can send them the following email yourself.  This is the same one they will receive from our support desk:

You may purchase coaching credits from your back office.  Soon you will have an icon on your main menu that will take you to the coaching pages, but for now, there will be a couple of extra steps involved.

Log in to Renegade Professional.  When you are on the main menu page, replace the url in your browser at the very top of the page with:

https://www.marketingmerge.com/Coaching/BuyCredits.aspx

You can then buy credits in increments of 100.  1 credit = $1.  The credit card you have on file with us will be charged.  You may keep these credits in your account for as long as you are a professional - they will not expire.

You may choose to spend your credits with one coach, or choose from different coaches and different topics.  Once you have purchased your credits, send an email to support and we will contact you to get you matched with a coach.  Again, in short order, this will be something you will be able to take care of yourself from your back office, but the information is still being loaded into the system, so we are still making the appointments manually. 

Coaches' fees depend on their level in our system.  Some coaches charge as little as 25 credits an hour, some more.  Most coaches offer a fifteen minute free consultation for new clients so that you can be sure there is a good fit between you.

Let us know your time zone, best number to call and what time of day is good to reach you.  If you have already chosen the coach you would like to work with, let us know that as well.  We will get you all set up as quickly as possible.

Making Network Marketing & Home Based Business Work -- Finding the Only Shortcut & Taking It.

My baby daughter was there. 
 
I was there. 
 
If only I knew then, what I know now. 
 
But who hasn't said that before?
 
I remember my mentality back then... 
 
"I 'gotta' make this work."

And judging by my circumstances I was right.
 
It was an all-too familiar and uncomfortable condition for me in business back then
 
I hadn't yet learned about the only REAL shortcut that exists. 
 
I Chased Rainbows.
 
Little did I know that the pot of gold was in my own backyard.
 
What a stubborn one I can be.
 
That stubbornness has served me in one way at least (never, ever quite--right?)
 
But it has also cost me dearly, with a mentality that seemed to say--
 
"No, not me... I don't have to work on my listening and communication skills, or learn how to lead.  I'll find a much easier way to succeed than THAT."
 
If only I knew how hard that would be, trying to find the EASY way. 
 
Because...
 
Looking for the "Easy Way" is the Hardest Way of All.
 
And, you could say...
 
What Most People Think to be the "Hard Way" is Actually the "Easiest".
 
I read personal development books. 
 
I went to leadership trainings. 
 
But I never made it my #1 thing--not back then.  I just thought I did at the time.
 
There I was at 30 years old with my six-month old daughter in my lap.
 
Chasing the dream from home.
 
Barely making enough to make ends meet. 
 
I'd made more (much more) from home before that.  But then it had shriveled. 
 
I'd worked hard before... real hard. 
 
And then after burning out--after working like a mad-man from age 22 to 27 (chasing all the bogus shortcuts most people still chase), I "checked out" for about two years as soon as the income was high enough. 
 
--Burn Out--
 
I played catch-up on life. 
 
The color returned to my face. 
 
I smiled more without trying to.
 
I started a family.
 
I caught up on what I had been missing while 'building the dream.'
 
But then, after watching my income slide back down I found myself in familiar territory...
 
"I gotta make this thing work!"
 

So I was working feverishly again... and had been for a year since returning from world travels, reflection, and a bout with getting healthy and fit (I needed that after the previous 5-year intensive business effort).

But by this time "being fit" was on its decline right along with my income.  I  recall a regular 1 a.m. mad dash to Carl's Jr. or Taco Bell (this is not what I'd typically want on the menu); eating healthy's the last thing on one's mind when feeling overwhelmed.
I was really stressed out--working, working... Trying...  Sitting with my six month old daughter beside me, trying to find the 'shortcut' again.  Trying to live up to my 'big words' to family and friends, most of whom had forgotten I was a winner.
 
Trying to justify my commitment to succeed.
 
The Million Dollar Chapter Comes...
 
But within a year from that challenging time, I had figured a piece of it out (the marketing part) and I started attracting business in a BIG way... though I still hadn't learned how to keep it. I had to go through a very labor intensive learning process because I was still looking for shortcuts in all the wrong places.

By age 31, I had attracted over a million dollars to my new company within the first month of launch and had people joining my networking business before I even had time to make the first follow-up phone call.  That was 6 years ago.
 
It was nice, though there was still plenty of stumbling (as I was still learning what I'll share with you today).  
 
It was actually quite rough... but it WAS a great experience because it forced me to finally--eventually-- realize and take the only REAL shortcut that exists... the very thing I was avoiding the entire time because I thought it would be harder, when it was actually much, much easier.
 
If only I was getting emails like this.
 
Fast forward 6 years, I now head up a growing multi-million dollar enterprise.  Solid, stable, growing incredibly fast.  Enjoyable.  In alignment with my values and intentions. 
 
From struggle to now business bliss, I have learned and lived the only REAL short-cut there is, and how to get people to not just stand in line to join my business... and not just stay... but to duplicate in ways that extend far beyond what I  imagined possible.
 
Finding the REAL Short-Cut... And Taking It.
 
I have always looked for the shortcuts, which would have been great, if only I was looking in the right place. 
 
In my earlier years in business, I was constantly trying to use some new system to generate leads for me.  Or to 'qualify' them for me.  I even worked hard to create such systems.
 
Its not that there wasn't value in what I was doing, and in qualifying prospects and using systems to help--that IS a small part of the equation.  But this aspect of it is SECONDARY to what is most critical for one's success.
Here's the "Essential List" most avoid making their #1 priority in business:

Focus on Developing...
  • A Keen insight
  • An ability to influence others
  • An ability to choose the right opportunities for you
  • An ability to create and communicate value
  • An ability to attract people to you through networking and marketing
  • An ability to inspire others by truly connecting with them, by listening
  • An ability to cultivate partnerships
You CAN develop these things rather quickly, but only if you make that your main aim.
 
The list is so alien when you're not ready. 
 
Its like hocus pocus.
 
It might even be scary. 
 
It makes success seem really far away.  But that's only if you're not ready to take responsibility for it.
 
The truth is that when you look at this essential list square in the face, that's when success gets close. 
 
That's when you're getting warmer.
 
Then, if you don't take your eyes off this list... that's when you get hot.   
 
Attractive Marketer Hot.
 
Doing so puts your butt on the shortcut... The only REAL shortcut you'll ever find.
 
I Wasn't Ready...
 
I wasn't ready to look until I had worked so hard for so long trying to bypass 'the list' of essentials, that I finally just stumbled into it here and there, over time... over a long period of painstaking time because I didn't know it was IT. 
 
I thought it was just "part" of it.  
 
Somehow I had exhausted everything else and I just decided to focus only on that list for a while... that was about 3 years ago.  
 
I buckled down on ONLY it.
 
I connected with the right coaching, training and people and developed my skills (the essential list) as QUICKLY AS I POSSIBLE COULD.
 
I did it because I had to.  I was exhausted.  It was that or admit failure.  And that's not me. 
 
This is where my stubbornness helped. 
 
And maybe its why I relate so well with the majority out there who struggle... because I was on that path with such intense determination for so long, avoiding the essential list just like most do.
 
My Point In All This?
 
My message to you is that it doesn't have to take you as long to find IT as it took me.
 
It took me a long time because I was stubborn in believing the B.S. because I wanted to believe it, just like many people reading this want to believe that a system is the answer.. and not you.  You don't want to follow through on this advice because you're like I was... you're where I was.
 
But some of you will move on it.  And that's who I'm talking to here.
 
Don't get me wrong...
 
The vehicles you use (the opportunities, systems, etc) ARE important obviously... but they are motionless without the list of essentials above. 
 
Like pushing a car uphill versus stepping on the gas and zipping down it.  That's what I'm taking about.  
 
I'm talking about finally being able to navigate yourself from where you are to where you want to be with absolute control, safety, comfort and EASE.  Every time with ANY system.
 
And...
 
I'm talking about accomplishing everything you want FASTER by making it your #1 intention to focus on the essential list.
 
Are you ready for that?

But are you consciously addressing the entire list head on?
 
Is it your #1 aim?
